Weather and Event Cancellation Policy

Effective date: August 30, 2026
Last updated: September 1, 2026

Many Adela Haunted Tours experiences occur outdoors, after dark, or at historic locations where weather can affect access and safety. This policy explains how weather and other unexpected conditions are handled.

Tours May Operate in Light Weather

Unless otherwise announced, tours may proceed during light rain, seasonal temperatures, or other manageable conditions. Guests should review the forecast and wear suitable clothing and footwear. Umbrellas may be restricted in narrow or crowded areas; a rain jacket or poncho may be recommended.

Safety Decisions

Adela may delay, modify, relocate, pause, postpone, or cancel an experience when conditions create a safety concern or prevent reasonable access. Relevant conditions may include:

  • Lightning or severe thunderstorms.
  • Tornado watches or warnings and severe-wind threats.
  • Flash flooding, unsafe roads, or hazardous terrain.
  • Extreme heat, cold, or other dangerous environmental conditions.
  • Fire, utility failure, structural concern, emergency response, government order, or venue closure.
  • Illness, staffing emergency, or another circumstance beyond reasonable control.

Decisions may be based on official alerts, venue instructions, local conditions, and the judgment of event leadership. Conditions can change quickly, so a decision may be made close to or during the scheduled event.

How Guests Will Be Notified

When reasonably possible, we will send updates to the email address or telephone number provided with the reservation and post an update through the website or official social-media channel. Guests are responsible for providing accurate contact information and checking messages before traveling.

Do not assume an event is canceled solely because rain is forecast. If no cancellation notice has been issued, follow the published check-in instructions unless travel is unsafe or authorities direct otherwise.

Delays and Modified Experiences

For a brief or passing weather condition, we may delay the start, pause in a sheltered area, shorten an exposed portion, change the route, or substitute an indoor or safer activity. A reasonable safety modification that preserves the central experience does not automatically qualify for a refund.

Postponement or Cancellation by Adela

If an event is postponed, existing tickets will ordinarily be transferred to the rescheduled date. The notice will explain any available transfer, credit, or refund options.

If Adela cancels an event and does not provide an acceptable rescheduled option, we will refund amounts paid directly to Adela for the canceled experience according to the Refund and Cancellation Policy. Adela is not responsible for separately purchased travel, lodging, meals, lost wages, or other personal expenses unless required by law.

A Guest’s Decision Not to Attend

If the event proceeds but a guest chooses not to attend, the standard Refund and Cancellation Policy applies. We encourage guests to make safe travel decisions and contact us as soon as possible if an official warning, road closure, or documented emergency affects attendance. Any exception is determined reasonably and consistently, subject to applicable law.

Emergency Conditions During an Event

If severe weather or another emergency develops after an event begins, follow all guide, venue, and emergency-personnel instructions immediately. The group may be moved, sheltered, evacuated, or dismissed. Do not leave without notifying a guide unless immediate safety requires it.
