FOLKLORE, LEGENDS & THE UNEXPLAINED

A Walk Through Alabama's Past

When darkness falls over the Alabama Black Belt, the past takes on a different character.

Step into Alabama’s past after dark at Cornwallis 1828 for an immersive evening of history, folklore, legends, mystery and stories of the unexplained.

Follow the trail into the night as Alabama’s past comes alive around you. Along the way, encounter stories inspired by historical figures, discover old legends passed from one generation to the next, explore Southern folklore and hear accounts of mysteries that still leave us searching for answers.

This isn’t simply a walking tour.

It’s an evening spent inside the stories of Alabama’s past.

U.S.S Battleship North Carolina

  • The USS North Carolina, commissioned in 1941, is one of the most decorated battleships of World War II, earning 15 battle stars for its service in the Pacific Theater.
  • It played a crucial role in every major naval offensive, contributing to the war effort and protecting aircraft carriers.
  • Now a museum ship in Wilmington, North Carolina, it honors veterans and the 11,000 North Carolinians who lost their lives in the war.
